Solar PV or Wind Turbines...

I've just had an interesting conversation with a customer who has recently had a wind turbine installed. He said that it will produce more electricity than he currently uses and at the value of 3.5p per kWh. He contacted us to inquire into converting his 2-Oven Oil fired Aga into an Electric 13 amp Firing one. Even using standard electricity prices of 11p he would be saving between £8-10 per week compared currently with with his 6.5 litres of Oil used per day (6.5 litres at 60p = £3.90 per day / £27.30 per week) along with £170 per year on servicing costs (2x £85, 6 monthly services).
If he then decides to use his wind turbine to supply electricity to the Aga is will reduce the running costs further. Hopefully the info below will make sense;

Running his 2-Oven Aga On Oil
6.5 litres per day = £3.90 per day / £27.30 per week / £1,419.60 per year

Converting it over to Electric Firing

22.1 kWh per day @11p = £2.40 per day / £16.80 per week / £873.00 per year

Converting it over to 13 amp Electric and running it off his newly installed wind turbine

22.1 kWh per day @3.5p = £0.80 per day / £5.60 per week / £291.20 per year

I understand that these figures are dependent on what current prices you are paying for your relevant energy, Oil between 58-63p and electricity anywhere between 3.5p-17p, but even if you just use this as nothing more than a rough indication, it is surely worth at the very least looking into converting your Oil fired Aga to 13amp electric and the option of Solar PV or Wind Turbine.

Its food for thought.

I'll try and get my info on the subject to see whether the above figures are anywhere near the correct.
