We are finding a high number of cases where the AGA/Rayburn cookers are dropping in temperature within 2-6 weeks of an oil delivery. The current number is around 80 cookers with this particular issue (as of 3rd June 2020).
The problem appears to be situated in the control boxes on the side of the AGA cookers - they have a small slot where all the oil passes through and this slot (on the meter stem) is getting covered in a waxy residue restricting the oil flow to the burner and causing the burner to run low.
This residue appears to be on or in the oil itself, we’re unsure whether it’s arriving with the oil or whether it’s something that’s happening within the tank.
We’ve been advised that general good housekeeping on oil tanks & high grade filters on oil lines are our only options available at present to try and prevent this residue getting to the control boxes. We can’t guarantee this resolves the issues completed but we’re convinced that it will help.
